The Origin of JESTER IN
JESTER IN came out of the search for an identity that would explain where we stand in the market. After several proposals, we picked the one that brought back a transgressive, intelligent, creative figure from centuries ago: the court jester.
Why a jester?
In a palace full of flattering courtiers, the jester was the only individual licensed to point out the decay of the kingdom straight into the king's eyes. But there was a deadly condition attached: being right wasn't enough, you had to master the spectacle. A truth blurted out without judgement, without wit and without charisma could mean exile. But a truth wrapped in wit, daring and staging didn't just get heard, it changed the course of an empire.
The jester has to be separated from the prejudice, because he wasn't a clown, and more than once in history jesters have been responsible for important changes in their kingdoms or have shaped the art history of their countries. All because they knew how to communicate and entertain. If you're curious and want to check a few well-known examples, here are some jesters of historical significance: Stańczyk (Poland in the 16th century), Will Sommers (England in the 16th century), Triboulet (France in the 15th century) and Roland le Fartere (England in the 12th century).
That tension is the heart of JESTER IN. We identify the needs and the potential of each business and design the right communication for it to reach its audience with transparency and creativity.
The architecture of contrast: Show & Production
Out of that duality come the two engines that drive every one of our projects:
- The Show: this is the aesthetics, the language, the visual addictiveness on social media and the design.
- The Production (The System): the engineering that sustains efficiency in every project. Impeccable code, agile platforms and Artificial Intelligence working in the shadows so that fascination turns into actual clients.
Why IN?
The "IN" is the door into the system, the blink of the cursor in the console, the step behind the curtain. It works inside JESTER IN as a disruptive design element, because "in" carries the sense of being inside. We use that device to introduce the main figure depending on our communication goal: JESTER IN WEB, JESTER IN MEDIA, JESTER IN BLOG, and so on.
It's the daily reminder of why we're here: to tell the truth about a brand and build around it the visual engineering that makes its audience seek it out, appreciate it and stay.
How the JESTER IN logo came about
To design our identity, we ran an exercise in abstract, geometric reduction.
First we came up with a design that was a jester's face made of geometric strokes with the detail stripped away, which gave it a slightly cartoon look. But it didn't quite fit our objective, our proposal and what we wanted to express.
The jester's face and bells were simplified down to their geometric essence: three triangles.
Structure of the logotype
Each of the three triangles isn't only aesthetics; they are concepts made of key terms that give meaning to our image, vision and philosophy:
- The Lower Triangle (The Company): the base that holds up the structure. It symbolises the foundations JESTER IN is built on, and its three vertices represent Communication, Flexibility and Innovation.
- The Upper Left Triangle (The Service): it represents the way creative sharpness turns into solutions. Its vertices are Communication, Creativity and Automation.
- The Upper Right Triangle (The Experience): the direct consequence of finished work. Its vertices are Communication, Impact and Trust.
Why does Communication repeat in all 3 triangles?
Communication repeats because it is an invisible triangle in the composition, the one holding the structure together.
That triangle isn't drawn, but it comes alive through the negative space the other three leave behind. And it matters in every one of the areas above:
- The Company: clean, transparent communication aligns teams, makes coordination easier and reduces mistakes in decision-making. It also strengthens trust, improves the working atmosphere and increases efficiency towards shared objectives.
- The Service: we capture the market's attention, and digital engineering is the perfect trick for turning it into business. Our mission is to provide each client with communication strategies built on honest strategic judgement and efficient visual production, backed by programming, design, marketing and Artificial Intelligence. So communication is everything: what we offer, what we improve and, in large part, what we are.
- The Experience: the technical result (Impact) and the long-term professional bond (Trust) would collapse without continuous communication.
Communication isn't only our profession; it's also the link that ties our services together and gives our identity its meaning.
Conclusion
JESTER IN was born on the premise of building messages with the clarity, the creativity and the technical backing needed to produce results.
Every project we develop starts from that same philosophy: understand the essence of a brand, design an honest strategy and turn it into an experience capable of capturing attention, conveying trust and staying in people's memory.
Because, just as the court jester knew that a great truth could only change a kingdom if it managed to be heard, we believe a great company can only grow when it knows how to communicate who it is, why it exists and what makes it different.
That is the purpose of JESTER IN: to turn communication into the competitive advantage that pushes our clients to the next level.
Frequently asked questions
What does JESTER IN mean?
A jester was the court fool: in the medieval court, the only one allowed to tell the king the truth, as long as he knew how to sell it with a show. The IN points to being let in: inside the system and inside the real conversation with a brand. Together they sum up the two things we do, showing and holding up.
What does the JESTER IN isotype represent?
The isotype is three triangles that read as a jester's crown, reinterpreted as pure geometry: a wide base that leads and two slender horns that rise beside it. No face, no bells; it's the idea of the crown reduced to its cleanest form.
Why a jester for a marketing agency?
Because the jester did exactly what we ask of good communication: tell an uncomfortable truth and make it land. A show so they look at you, and the judgement to tell you what really matters, even when it isn't what you want to hear.
